Test winner: FOX Racing Speedframe
There is hardly a more chic enduro helmet than the FOX Speedframe. This model is for the riders who like to leave the brakes open. The helmet is pulled down low at the sides and provides in combination with the EPS foam and MIPS system best protection. Due to the long visor the helmet can be combined well with a goggle. The padding in the rear area as well as the ventilation could be optimized. Otherwise, there is not much to criticize about the helmet. In conclusion, one can say that the FOX Speedframe is the best enduro helmet for moshers.
POC Tectal
The Swedes set the bar quite high for half-shell helmets with well thought-out details and angular design. According to the POC, the Tectal was developed for „aggressive trails and enduro racing“. You can see that from the helmet: the sides are pulled down low and provide good protection all around. In the foam there is a grid construction made of armid fibres. This distributes the force more evenly over the helmet and does not stress any part of it. The POC Tectal is also available in the MIPS version for an extra charge. In addition, the helmet is equipped with the RECCO reflector and can be found from the rescue helicopter in an emergency with a special device. Super helmet with high quality workmanship!
Mavic Crossmax Pro
The manufacturer Mavic is actually known for high quality wheelsets. For some time now the French have also been producing helmets like the Mavic Crossmax Pro. The design language also flows into details like the shark fin on the top or the chin strap. Although the helmet encloses the head very well, it remains pleasantly cool due to the 37.5™ lining material. The half shell can also be combined very well with a goggle and has an aggressive effect. However, the Mavic Crossmax Pro does not fit every tester perfectly on the head. That‘s why it‘s better to test it in the shop. Overall, the Mavic Crossmax Pro is a very successful helmet.
Giro Montaro MIPS
Giro uses the modern MIPS system with its Montaro. If you hit the ground with your helmet, the pads work against the direction of the fall and thus minimize further injuries. The half shell is with 120€ not the cheapest, but the safest! The simple look with discreet black or gaudy colour combinations leaves hardly any wishes unfulfilled. The position on the head is good and can be quickly adjusted to the head circumference with the Roc Loc Air adjustment system. The visor fits well into the lines and there is even a holder for accessories. A very good helmet!
Price/performance winner: 7Protection M2
7Protection, like all other manufacturers, attaches great importance to good protection properties. On the other hand, the complete package should be somewhat cheaper than the competition. The helmet fits well as long as you do not have a square canister head. The helmet pulls down almost to the neck and thus protects the back of the head better. The ventilation holes in the front are covered with mesh to prevent flies or other insects from visiting your hair. Top helmet for almost 100€.
